Christmas Holidays in Jaipur 2026: A 3-Day Itinerary for 24–27 December
Christmas in Jaipur is quieter than in Goa or Mumbai, and that is exactly why it works: the forts are glowing in soft winter light, the evenings are cool, and the city's festive events are small, local and easy to fit into a trip. This itinerary is built around the real calendar of 2026: Christmas Eve on Thursday, 24 December, Christmas Day on Friday, 25 December, and a long weekend that runs through Sunday, 27 December. It plans each day around sunlight, crowds and travel time, includes the festive options that exist in Jaipur (church services, winter markets, mall carnivals and hotel dinners) and ends each day with a proper meal, including a Rajasthani heritage dinner at Virasat Heritage Restaurant in Kukas.
If you want a
general plan for any time of year, see our 3-day
Jaipur itinerary. This post is specifically for the Christmas week.
The Short Answer
For Christmas
week in Jaipur, spend Day 1 (Thu, 24
Dec) in the Old City, Day 2 (Fri, 25
Dec) at Amer Fort and the hill forts, and Day 3 (Sat, 26 Dec) on shopping, a temple, a church or a slow morning,
with Sunday, 27 December as a buffer day. Reserve your Christmas dinner early,
start sightseeing before 9 AM, pack warm layers for the evenings and check the
dates of any winter market or carnival before you plan around it.
Christmas Week in Jaipur: What
to Know First

The festival is small and local. Christmas is not a citywide festival in Jaipur. It is celebrated by
the city's Christian community, in churches, and by hotels, malls and event
organisers, which is why most of what you will find is a church service, a
carnival, a market or a restaurant dinner.
The weather is perfect, with cold nights. Travel guides put December temperatures at around 9°C at night and
up to about 23°C in the day. Pack a jacket, a scarf and closed shoes for the
forts. Sunrise is around 7 AM and sunset around 5:30 PM, so you have about ten
hours of daylight and should plan your outdoor sights early.
It is a busy holiday.
Christmas Day falls on a Friday, so many Indian families take a long weekend,
and international visitors arrive in peak season. Expect crowds at Amer Fort
and Hawa Mahal, heavier traffic on the Amer road and tighter availability at
hotels and restaurants.
Check timings. Monument
hours, church services and market dates can change around the holidays, so
confirm them a few days before you travel.

Day 1: Thursday, 24 December
(Christmas Eve), the Old City

The Old City is
compact, so you can see a lot on foot or with short cab rides.
8:30 AM, Hawa Mahal. The
Palace of Winds faces east, so the morning light is the best for photos. Arrive
early, before the crowds. If you want the classic view, take a cafe seat across
the street.
9:30 AM, City Palace.
Allow about two hours. The complex is still partly home to Jaipur's royal
family, and its museums, courtyards and galleries give a sense of Rajput court
life. Govind Dev Ji Temple sits within the complex, and Krishna devotees visit
throughout the day.
12 PM, Jantar Mantar. The
18th-century observatory built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II is next door and
takes about an hour. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a guide makes the
instruments much easier to follow.
1:30 PM, lunch. Try a Rajasthani thali, or snack your way through pyaaz kachori, mirchi vada and a
glass of lassi.
3 PM, a slow break. Rest
at your hotel or visit the Albert Hall Museum, a striking Indo-Saracenic
building that looks its best in the evening light.
5:30 PM, the Old City bazaars. Walk through Johari Bazar, Bapu Bazar and Tripolia Bazar, which are
known for jewellery, textiles, jootis and lac bangles. Jaipur is a UNESCO World Heritage city,
and its bazaars are most photogenic as the lights come on.
7:30 PM, Christmas Eve dinner. Book ahead. Options include a hotel Christmas dinner, a rooftop
cafe or a Rajasthani Heritage Restaurant. If you want a quiet, early evening, make a table
reservation for 7:30 or 8 PM.
Optional, late evening:
Midnight services are a tradition in many churches. Check the timings of All
Saints' Church or the Cathedral of Our Lady of Annunciation if you would like
to attend, and remember to dress modestly and keep the visit respectful.
Day 2: Friday, 25 December
(Christmas Day), Amer Fort and the Hill Forts

Christmas Day is
a holiday, so the forts will be busy. The solution is an early start.
8 AM, Amer Fort. Reach the
gates at opening time. The Ganesh Pol, the courtyards and the mirror-work
Sheesh Mahal are the highlights, and the fort is part of the UNESCO-listed hill
forts of Rajasthan. Allow two to three hours and wear comfortable shoes.
Holiday traffic on the Amer road can be heavy, so leave your hotel earlier than
you think you need to.
11 AM, Jal Mahal. A quick
photo stop on the way back. The Water Palace sits in the middle of Man Sagar
Lake and is viewed from the lakeside.
12:30 PM, lunch. Eat near
the fort, or head back toward the city. For ideas, see our guide to the best
restaurants near Amer Fort.
2:30 PM, rest or a festive carnival. Take a break, or visit a mall carnival or a winter market if one is
running on 25 December. Check the 2026 dates first.
3:30 PM, Nahargarh Fort for sunset. The ramparts look over the whole city, and the golden hour begins
before 5 PM in winter, so arrive by 4 PM to secure a spot.
7 PM, Christmas dinner at Virasat. Virasat Heritage Restaurant is on Delhi Road in Kukas, about 15
minutes from Amer Fort. You are welcomed with tilak, a garland and a Padharo
Mhare Des greeting, seated in a darbar hall and served an unlimited, 100% pure
vegetarian Rajasthani thali while live folk musicians and dancers perform. It
is a very different Christmas dinner, and one that guests remember. Read the
full guide to a Christmas
dinner in Jaipur, and please book early and call to confirm timings for 25
December.
Day 3: Saturday, 26 December, a
Slower Day

By the third day
most visitors want a gentler pace.
Morning options (pick one):
• Sunrise hot-air balloon ride. Balloon
rides over Jaipur run in the cooler months and depend on the weather. Book
through a licensed operator and ask about the cancellation policy.
• Galta Ji. A temple complex in the hills
east of the city, popular for its setting and its monkeys. Keep food and shiny
items out of sight.
•
A slow breakfast and a walk. Spend the
morning in the C-Scheme or Bani Park cafes.
Afternoon: shopping. If
you did not shop on Day 1, visit the bazaars for gifts, or look for
block-printed textiles and blue pottery.
Late afternoon: Birla Mandir. The white marble Lakshmi Narayan temple is peaceful and lit up in
the evening.
Evening: flexible. Visit a
winter market or carnival if one is running on the 26th, or enjoy a quiet
dinner. The 2025 Winter Flea, for example, ran on 25 and 26 December.
Sunday, 27 December (buffer day). Use it for Jaigarh Fort, a spa, a museum or the journey home.
Weekend traffic on the Jaipur–Delhi highway can be slow, so leave early if you
are driving.

cold at night, down to about 9°C.

seated dining. See the traveller table above.
Q. How many days do I need for Jaipur at Christmas?
Ans. Three days cover the highlights, and a fourth (Sunday, 27 December)
is a useful buffer.
Conclusion
Christmas in
Jaipur is not about a giant tree or a parade. It is about winter light on pink
sandstone, quiet church carols, a bazaar at dusk and a dinner that feels like a
royal evening. Plan your days around the sun, book your dinners early and keep
a little room for surprises.

Eco-Friendly Diwali in Jaipur 2026: 12 Green Ideas, a 5-Day Plan and a Royal Diwali Dinner
Diwali 2026 falls on Sunday, 8 November, with Dhanteras on Friday, 6 November. An eco-friendly Diwali in Jaipur means clay diyas instead of plastic lights, natural rangoli, handmade local gifts, folk music instead of loud firecrackers and a festive meal that does not create a mountain of waste. If you would rather spend the evening at a table than in a kitchen, Virasat Heritage Restaurant in Kukas offers a pure vegetarian Rajasthani Diwali dinner in palace-style halls with live folk culture. Jaipur does Diwali better than most cities. The old bazaars glow, the sweet shops run out of mawa kachori by noon and every terrace seems to have its own row of lamps. The one thing the city does not need more of is smoke, noise and plastic. This guide shows you how to keep every bit of the glow and cut most of the mess.

Amer Fort Light and Sound Show: Timings, Tickets and a Dinner Plan
The Amer Fort light and sound show runs every evening below the fort, facing Maota Lake, in two shows: English first, Hindi second. From October to February the English show starts at 6:30 PM and the Hindi show at 7:30 PM, and each lasts about 50 to 55 minutes. Tickets are separate from the fort entry ticket. Plan dinner for after the show, and if you want a proper Rajasthani meal, Virasat Heritage Restaurant is a pure vegetarian restaurant near Amer Fort, about twenty minutes away in Kukas and open until 11 PM. Most people see Amer Fort in daylight, squinting at the sandstone and dodging selfie sticks. The evening version is a different animal: the crowds thin out, the walls glow gold and the story of the Kachwaha rulers is told in light and music on the fort's own face. It is one of the few things in Jaipur that works equally well for couples, families and solo travellers.

Baby Shower Venues in Jaipur: 6 Royal Halls, Garden and Banquet Near Kukas

The short version: If you are comparing baby shower venues in Jaipur and want something truly royal, Virasat Heritage Restaurant in Kukas gives you six distinct settings under one roof: four palace-style dining halls, a banquet hall and a garden lawn.
