Rajasthani food is a cuisine of the desert — slow-cooked lentils, millet breads, sun-dried beans and berries, ghee-rich sweets. At Virasat every element of the thali is cooked the traditional way and refilled until you say 'bas'.

Our four dining halls recreate the darbar of a Rajput palace, so a meal here is as much about the setting and the performers as about the food.

What is served at a Rajasthani restaurant like Virasat?

The centrepiece is the Sampoorna Rajasthani Thali — a complete meal from across Rajasthan served in a brass thali and refilled as many times as you like. Alongside it we serve Rajasthani and North Indian à la carte dishes and traditional sweets.

  • Dal Baati Churma — the signature dish of Rajasthan
  • Gatte ki Sabzi, Ker Sangri, Panchmel Dal, Rajasthani Kadhi
  • Bajra roti, missi roti, makki roti with lehsun chutney and white butter
  • Churma, Ghevar (seasonal), Malpua, Moong Dal Halwa
  • Chaas, jaljeera and Rajasthani pickles and papad

Why is Virasat different from other Rajasthani restaurants in Jaipur?

Most thali restaurants serve on tables in a modern dining room. At Virasat the thali is served in Swarn Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, The Jaipar and Jodhana — four darbar-style halls with gilded jharokhas, mirror-work and frescoes — while folk singers, Kalbeliya dancers and kathputli artists perform. Guests are welcomed with tilak and garland and seated on low gaddis or at tables as they prefer.

Where is the restaurant and when should I come?

Virasat is at Delhi Road (NH-48), near Sai Baba Temple, Kukas, Jaipur 302028, about 20 minutes from Amer Fort on the Jaipur–Delhi highway. We are open 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, all seven days; folk performances run in the evening from around 7 PM, so dinner is the most popular time for tourists and groups. Lunch is quieter and ideal for families with children or elders.

How do I book and what does a thali cost?

Reserve online at virasatjaipur.com/booking or call +91 95877 77817. Thali pricing is per person and includes the live cultural programme; children's and group rates are available on request. Walk-ins are welcome, but weekends and the October–March season fill up quickly.
