A Day in the Life of a Young Royal
Step through the carved gates of Virasat and the modern world melts away. Inside the golden Swarn Mahal darbar, children are transformed — safa (turban) tied, odhni draped, kalgi pinned — into the maharajas and maharanis of a bygone Rajputana court.
The Royal Kids Program is a hands-on heritage experience designed for children: a ceremonial welcome with tilak and charan-dhulai (feet washing), a royal procession through the palace corridors, a seat of honour in the darbar hall, live Rajasthani folk music, and playful classes on the history, arts and etiquette of Rajasthan's royal families.
It ends the way every royal day should — with a Sampoorna Rajasthani Thali served on the floor-seated bajot, exactly as the kings once dined.
The Royal Experience
King & Queen Makeover
Children are dressed in traditional royal attire — colourful safas, angrakhas, kalgis and jewelled odhnis — before being crowned with a rajtilak on the throne.
Charan Dhulai Welcome
Just as visiting royalty was once received, each child is welcomed with tilak, aarti, flower petals and the ceremonial washing of feet by palace attendants.
The Royal Walk
A grand procession under a chhatri (royal umbrella), led by dhol and shehnai, through the painted corridors to the darbar hall — the moment every child feels like a real raja or rani.
Folk Music & Dance
Live folk musicians play ravanhatta, dholak and harmonium while ghoomar and bhavai (matka) dancers perform — with kids invited to join in.
Heritage Classes
Short, fun sessions on Rajput history, palace architecture, turban tying, royal etiquette, folk instruments and the stories behind Rajasthan's forts and festivals.
Royal Thali Feast
Pure-veg Rajasthani thali with dal-baati-churma, gatte, ker-sangri, ghevar and more — served on brass thalis at low bajot seating, with kid-friendly portions.

What is the ideal age group?+
The program is designed for children aged roughly 4 to 14 years. Activities and class content are adapted to the age of the group.
How long does the Royal Kids Program last?+
Plan for roughly half a day including the welcome, dress-up, darbar session, performance and thali. The exact duration is set with you while booking and can be shortened or extended for your group.
Are costumes provided or do we bring our own?+
Costumes and accessories are provided by Virasat in a range of children's sizes. Children are welcome to bring their own royal outfits too.
Is the food suitable for kids?+
Yes — the thali is pure vegetarian, freshly prepared, mildly spiced for children, with Jain / no-onion-garlic options available on request.
Can parents and teachers join?+
Absolutely. Adults can accompany the children, watch the darbar session and enjoy the same thali. Adult pricing applies separately.
